We love to sing songs of praise and devotion to God! We join together praising God with our voices, following the pattern established in the New Testament. The early church did not sing with instruments. A cappella singing allows everyone to participate in worship, upholding the church as a body. (Colossians 3:16; Ephesians 5:19, Matthew 26:30)
We share the communion meal every week. This is the centerpiece of our time together. Like the very first believers, we celebrate the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ every Sunday. The bread and the cup remind us of his body and blood that were offered for us at Calvary. The piece of unleavened bread represents Christ’s body given to die on the cross. The fruit of the vine represents Christ’s blood shed as an atoning sacrifice for our sins. (Acts 20:7; Acts 2:42; 1 Corinthians 11:23-26, Matthew 26:26-28)
We pray to God, in the name of Jesus. One of our greatest privileges is to talk to God directly. We believe in the power of prayer, and we often pray for specific needs and requests. Men in the congregation will lead public prayers, however, it is also a time for each person to turn to God with what is in their heart. (1 Timothy 2:1-8)
You will hear a lot of scripture during our assembly. Our scripture reading and preaching comes from the whole bible, Old and New Testament. After spending time in prayer and song, our minister, Foy Anderson, delivers a 30 minute sermon from the Word of God each week. (Acts 2:42, Acts 20:7, Acts 17:11, Romans 10:14, Acts 10:42, 2 Timothy 4:2)
We believe that baptism through immersion is an essential part of salvation. Our belief is based on the fact that baptism and salvation are clearly linked throughout scripture. One must hear, believe, repent, confess and be baptized to receive the Holy Spirit and receive remission of sins. (Acts 2:38, Mark 16:15-16, Acts 22:16, 1 Peter 3:20-21)
